What motivates you to get out of bed every morning?
"I want to contribute to a more sustainable world. I attended my first climate demonstration in The Hague when I was twelve. Big things take a long time to change. Often, there is a gap between words and deeds that delays those changes. That's why I'm glad I can help by taking small, concrete steps at RUAS."
What is your biggest contribution to making our institution more sustainable? In short, what are you proud of, and why?
"We are setting up Green Teams so that we can expand and strengthen the green network at RUAS. These enthusiastic students and staff act as ambassadors for sustainability at the various institutes. By listening to each other, we can drive the green movement forward together."
What do you want to contribute and achieve in the (near) future that you'd be satisfied and content with?
"I hope that the green community will grow and flourish this year. I will be happy when sustainability becomes the norm rather than the exception."
What have you learnt for the future?
"Sometimes, an activity such as hosting a workshop seems like a tiny contribution. But it's still important. If you want to bring about change in a large organisation like Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences, you simply need a lot of patience."
What would you like to share with your fellow human beings, lecturers, and students in terms of sustainability?
"Not everyone has to turn vegan or never fly again. You don't have to change your whole life to make a difference."
