Schrijf je nu in voor Hackathon Immersive Tech in Rotterdam, van 1 t/m 3 december 2025.
Tijdens dit unieke evenement verken je de mogelijkheden van immersive technologie. Binnen 3 dagen ontwikkel je in een team een immersieve en innovatieve oplossing voor een van de uitdagingen. Denk aan trainingen in de zorg, immersive stories of virtuele steden. Er is plaats voor 150 studenten van VO, MBO, HBO en WO. Technische vaardigheden zijn niet vereist!

Wat is Immersive Tech?
Immersive Technology creëert ervaringen die zoveel mogelijk zintuigen aanspreken. Denk aan Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR), Mixed Reality (MR), maar ook projecties of interactieve installaties kunnen immersief zijn. Immersieve technologieën worden breed toegepast in trainingen in het bedrijfsleven of de zorg, voor simulaties in de bouw, voor games en nog veel meer. Tijdens de hackathon verken je de mogelijkheden van Immersive Tech en ontwikkel je er een prototype mee voor een opdracht van verschillende organisaties.

De hackathon wordt georganiseerd in samenwerking met een breed scala aan toonaangevende organisaties. Dit is dé kans om meer te leren over Immersive Technology, je hard én soft skills te versterken en in contact te komen met professionals in het vakgebied. Welke challenges zijn er?
- Een inclusief podium voor jongeren om zich te creatief uiten, door Gemeente Rotterdam, Digital Child Rights en Stichting Levels
- Een meeslepend verhaal over het 16e-eeuwse Visboeck door SURF, Nationale Bibliotheek & CWI
- Een XR-innovatie voor eerstehulpverleners door Veiligheidsregio Rotterdam-Rijnmond

Praktische informatie
De officiële inschrijving voor studenten opent op donderdag 6 november 2025 en sluit op dinsdag 25 november. Wil je deelnemen, neem dan contact op met je docent of je deze dagen lessen kunt missen. Docenten en medewerkers worden verzocht dit formulier in te vullen. We vragen onderwijsinstellingen een vergoeding voor catering voor studenten van €50-€75 per student. Ook hebben wij medewerking van docenten en medewerkers nodig – van het werven van studenten en het voorbereiden van activiteiten tot coaching tijdens het evenement. Register now for the Hackathon Immersive Tech event in Rotterdam from 1 to 3 December 2025.
During this unique event, you will explore the possibilities of immersive technology. Over the course of three days, you will work in teams to develop innovative, immersive solutions to challenges such as healthcare training, creating immersive stories and designing virtual cities. There are 150 places available for secondary and higher education students. No technical skills are required!
What is Immersive Tech?
Immersive Technology creates experiences that appeal to as many senses as possible. Think of Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR), Mixed Reality (MR), but also projections or interactive installations can be immersive. Immersive technologies are widely used in training courses in business or healthcare, for simulations in construction, for games and much more. During the hackathon, you will explore the possibilities of Immersive Tech and use it to develop a prototype for an assignment from various organisations.

What are the challenges?
- An inclusive platform for young people to express themselves creatively, by City of Rotterdam, Digital Child Rights and Levels Educational Platform
- An immersive story about the 16th-century Visboeck by SURF, National Library and Research Institute for Mathematics & Computer Science.
- An XR innovation for first responders by the Rotterdam-Rijnmond Safety Region

Practical information
Students can register between Thursday 6 November and Tuesday 25 November. If you wish to participate, please contact your teacher to check whether you can miss classes on these days. Teachers and staff are requested to complete this form. We kindly ask educational institutions to contribute €50–€75 per student towards catering costs. We also need teachers and staff to help with various tasks, from recruiting students and preparing activities to coaching during the event. If you have any questions, please email immersivetech@hr.nl.
