Final Conference FILO project

18 november 2019

Society is challenged by a growing number of ageing people that live longer, age in place and feel lonely. Loneliness is a heterogenic problem. Many interventions have been developed to address loneliness. Due to the complexity of loneliness it is not easy for professionals to identify suitable interventions and to implement them. So what can be done? And which knowledge is essential?

In order to learn from each other, six European Cities /Countries have exchanged good practices in addressing loneliness among elderly (Nacka Sweden, Marseille France, Venice Italy, Crete Greece, Roeselare Belgium and Rotterdam the Netherlands).

In the morning session of the conference some of these good practices will be presented. There is also attention for the essential vocational training methods to deal with the challenges of social inclusion of lonely elderly.

The afternoon programme provides the opportunity to take a closer look at the local practices, the effective elements of the interventions and the required knowledge skills and attitude of students and professionals. Do they match or do we need to change (part of) the curricula? And what are implications for the future?
