International Business and Management Studies

IBMS is a broad management study programme in English, covering all aspects of international business and management.
IBMS prepares students for professional careers in international companies. Based on a combination of elements from the fields of marketing, sales, finance, and management, the programme has a special focus on international trade and commerce.
Do you want to study in an international environment and gain practical experience at international companies? During this 4 year study programme you will work with classmates from all over the world. You will also have the opportunity to gain international experience through a placement (abroad), and a study-abroad semester at one of our partner universities.
The profile of the IBMS student is based on competencies defined after intensive consultation with the business world and society concerning the knowledge, skills and attitude needed by future managers. The IBMS graduate is aware of international economic developments and the effects they have on the international organisation. Competent in intercultural leadership, analysis, creative problem solving, and planning, IBMS graduates are highly sought after around the world for positions such as Marketing Manager, Consultant, Area Manager, Financial Controller and Sales Manager.
Study program
Rotterdam University, University of Applied Sciences has
developed a tightly implemented education model. Characteristic of
the Rotterdam Education Model (REM) are three learning tracks:
knowledge-driven, practice-driven and student-driven education.
Imagine that through studying IBMS you want to develop yourself
to be a general manager at an international company. In the
knowledge driven track we will give you the theoretical basis for
the position. The IBMS subjects from the core modules Finance and
Accounting, Logistics Management, Marketing Management,
Organisation Management and Economics form the basis for your
competency as a general manager. In the practice-driven track you
will already get your first taste of your future career through
working on projects for companies and real-life case studies. For
example acting as a consultant for a company and offering advice
about optimization of aspects of their business. In the
student-driven track you will be coached in developing the skills
you need to be successful in your study and in your future career.
